About SYNCRO.ORG
...
Dedicated to the enjoyment and preservation of the Volkswagen T-3 Syncro,
and to fostering an international Syncro community.
began simply enough in 1997 as a "TO DO" list scratched out on a piece of paper.  The list was later converted to HTML, complete with links and text from e-mails from the Vanagon List, for use in coordinating/facilitating a wish-list of syncro projects.  That document was later converted into a single-page website featuring the upgraded syncro and its many enhancements.  It was posted to the web in the spring of 1998.  Bit-by-bit, pages, photos and links were added until SYNCRO.ORG evolved into its current form around November of 1999.

The Syncro Registry was added in the spring of 2000.  Since then, the Registry has been filled with over 600 syncros from around the world, including from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Israel, South Africa, Chile, Costa Rica, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Finland, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Norway, Holland, Denmark, England, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, and the United States (40+).  The Registry contains rare and interesting syncros, information about modifications people have made, and it permits users to locate and contact other syncronauts.

An e-mail list and photo/file-Upload Portal/Archive were added to the site in February 2001.  The upload feature allows users to upload materials directly to SYNCRO.ORG for others to view and for use as site content.  The e-mail list provides a forum for discussion of anything related to syncros.

Beginning in the spring of 2000, SYNCRO.ORG began sponsoring an annual gathering of syncronauts near Hollister, Clalifornia, for a weekend of camping, off-roading, and all sorts of related fun.  The event has evolved into a festival of sorts, aptly called SYNCRO de MAYO, since it is held in early May, when the weather is nice.

The best part about SYNCRO.ORG is that it is primarily a compilation of the work of others.  Most of the content comes from syncronauts who either have submitted information directly to SYNCRO.ORG, or who maintain webistes of their own with valuable syncro information.  Linking all of this information together has allowed SYNCRO.ORG to evolve from chicken scratch on a piece of paper into a website where syncronauts from around the world meet, share ideas and obtain information on how to preserve, upgrade and enhance their syncros.

Submissions to SYNCRO.ORG are welcome and encouraged.  They may include photos, links, tech info, articles, trip reports, product info, etc.  Material may be submitted via the Upload Portal or sent via E-mail.  All submissions incorporated into the site will be credited unless otherwise requested.

Enjoy the site.  And don't forget to register your syncro in the Syncro Registry!

*(Inspirational credit for SYNCRO.ORG is owed to Thomas Forhan and his original Syncro Westfalia site, and to Coyote and his legendary Vanagon.com.)
